What a waste to visit Paris and not take home a painting. Yes, paintings in most Parisian galleries are very expensive. So why not acquire one fresh of a painter's easel, help a starving artist and spend a romantic day overlooking the city? In two trips to Paris, I've found wonderful paintings at Montmartre that once framed became spectacular. In December, we got to know Montmartre's Domenico Molinari, an artist whose early days were spent perfecting the now very in "sculpturalisme" technique which makes subjects literally stand out in a painting. He then adds a white shading to create the illusion of delicate high-lighting spotlights. Molinari can be found in the square or at his studio (42-54-70-37) or home (42-49-82-72). He speaks some English and will arrange to meet you. Los Angeles, Linda Breakstone. Herald Examiner, 14 mai 1989. |
